Ascension Missions
i think i speak for a lot of people *I THINK* they should make high level characters relevantly stronger (lvl 15-20, since max lvl is 20), or just make those missions a bit easier.. seriously.. wtf.. people try to do the elona quest a BILLION times kuz of the insanely strong mobs in that mission. a party goes in mission, they just try to kill everything because its almost impossible to zone it and come back out alive with the crystals. a lvl 20 tanker w/mo runs into base, picks up crystal, THREE enemies attack him, THREE!!, he will get crippled, bleed, deep wound, all kinds of that crap, and even with sprint, he wont run far. and if a party really tries to kill everything so they can get crystal, well, lets say a all lvl 19 and up party wif TWO monks, they will all die. when i played, i had two monks constantly healing me while i try to kill the mob, but i still die, then the monks and every1 else die. then to the luring plan, luring the mobs out will take a while since some mobs just dont move, they just stand there, u lure them out, they will run back in... then u go in, they kill u. ELONA IS HELL. not mentioning theres only 28 minutes to do it, since there are always sum 1 who wants to watch the movie. In conclusion, they should make the ascension missions easier or the mobs weaker, OR make the characters relevantly stronger.

Two things:
a) Grammar is your friend; a little more effort in your posting makes your argument more believable since you don't sound like a rambling food.
b) The Ascension Missions should stay as they are. They force you (the player) to adapt to the situation to accomplish the mission, I did Elona's Reach with a friend and henchman on the fourth try. Every time we failed, we tinkered our strategy and builds to overcome the challenges in the mission. In the end, I ended up having a more streamlined warrior and my friend has a more group friendly elementalist. Ascension is the time in the game where you should learn that no single build can face and defeat the challenges in the game, you must learn to adapt yourself to the problem and not adapt the problem to yourself (which most of the time, fails).
I find Pick-up groups unreliable, try to get a balance of henchmen and players so you don't have to manage a full party.

I did Elona's with a guild group and beat it on the first try, with 21 minutes to spare. If everything about your experience is true, you were paired up with an especially worthless batch of pugs.
And if you think Elona's is bad, you're going to cry when you get to the Ring of Fire.

All three of the ascension quests took a day or two each for me, except river which we did on my third attempt. Luckily I found a group who'd tried it 17 times or so and ended up needing a healer. Maybe try and find a bunch of folks who've all tried it and pool your knowledge?
I'll share what worked for my group in Elona in the hopes it helps you. We took 1 healer (me), 1 fighter/healer, 1 necromancer/fighter to tank and 3 nukers. We got 2 crystals without dieing. There were just too many to pull just one near the third crystal so someone grabbed it and ran it to the ghost while the rest of us fought valiantly (we got owned). Mission complete.
Don't let these three missions get you down. At least there is scenery and good drops. When you have to fight your mirror? That's when it sucks. Tomorrow will be day 3 for me on that with no real clue on how to do it. I've spent my whole time post-searing watching red bars and keeping people alive and now I have to fight my mirror... only I'm Doogie Howser and my mirror is Rambo.

I'm really hating elona's reach, I've done that mission 20 times already and it's not happening. There are just too many groups of mobs in close vicintiy of each other. If they just cut the # of mobs or spread them out farther then it would be perfect.

rofl...elona was so easy...river was a pain in the ass because of that one boss...and dunes was nothing.
heres the trick to each:
elona: 1-2 healers 3 warriors and a ranger/ele
river: 1 or 2 warriors, 2 rangers or ele, MESMER IS A MUST...well not a must, but man the mission flew by so easily with one
dunes: uh yea, have fun with that, get a warrior and anything else, and a good healer and ur all set
the quests are relatively easy. you just need the right combination of character classes and skills equipped.
p.s if ur a ranger i can tell u the trick to beating your mirror.
edit-another useful thing, focus fire. man get a good party who can learn to target one enemy, god life gets easy.

i completely disagree. Number one, you're ascending. This isn't just any small event, you're having to prove to the gods that you are worthy to save this world. Number two, I completed Dunes and Elona's first time for each, with a decent party. I had a lot of problems with Thirsty River but that was *mostly* due to bad parties.

i think "assinding" should be easy enugh to not turn the game off for people, if it is to hard some people will give up, and not try any more, ( i tryed for my thured day beating my mirror ) the thing is what comes easy to some, might not come easy to others, so even though a lvl 20 monk can defeat his mirror on his first try dosent mean that all lvl 20 monks can defeat there mirrors on there first try, i do beleave that it should be hard enough for a chalange, but when you die you should leave knowing what you did wrong, not leaving thinking you will never beable to beat him( or her)

No one should ever think they will never be able to beat the mirror, because I'm sure by now, every possible combination has done it. I got some good tips for my Mo/Me on a different thread and will try them. The thing for some people is how long it takes. I'm starting my third day on that damn mirror fight with some good advice from people here. If it doesn't work today or tomorrow, I'm just going to play a different game for awhile and come back in a few months with a fighter since they can do it easy apparently. It's a good game and you can do almost anything the way it's set up. What gets alot of people, including myself, is the repetitiveness involved in trying to do one thing... especially the mirror.

I finally beat Elonia , I think the grand total was 35 tries. I still think the enemy mobs are too close together, and man when 2 mobs gang up on me it's pretty much over. Now I just need to do the last one.

Dunno, all the missions seem pretty easy in retrospect, I dont' think I've done any mission more than 5 times in order to move on except the infusion one.

i take wut i said all back, i just beat elona, i guess theres the way my team did it was pretty good, we had no primary healer, almost every1 is a secondary monk, so we took care of each other, and we just walked right next to walls and sneaking around, when we went to the crystal, my team started to fight and stayed alive kuz whenever one sees another at low health, he heals that person, then i grabed crystal and sprinted back, we did that for both crystals and it worked like a charm. i'd suggest people to use our strategy, and dont just rely on one healer, take care of each other is how u survive, and also WATCH UR HP run when its low

I did not even read the replies, I just need to chime in here...
I think that difficulty is not some enemy, I want a good challenge in my game. I mean, nothing sucks more than breezing through a potentially good game.

The difficulty is not the missions - it's the players. I tried and failed Thirsty River four times with pugs the first time I got there. Gave up on that, first time I went in with just Henchmen, I made it to the end. Got stuck on the Monk boss (which I now realize I could have killed with a different skill selection), took in *one* other player, and finished it easily. Other two were simple when I brought along a pair of guildmates.
The problem is that none of the missions before Ascension are remotely difficult, so utterly incompetent players can cruise right up to/near 20 and start the Ascension missions with no skill at teamwork whatsoever. It acts as a semi-effective barrier, but they'll still get past it given time.
My recommendation: Take just one or two players along. If you can't bring friends, bring someone who will listen (I did Thirsty River on that first run with one other player, and he had never done the mission). Absolutely avoid full parties of other people, you're playing roulette with your time - and you're usually going to lose :P
